Takeaway
Start your backswing off right.

A good swing starts with a good backswing, which starts with your takeaway. Make sure you're starting the club head going back on a straight line. Draw a line starting from your ball back at least 1 foot. Keep your club head low. For a more advanced version, draw a line parallel to the first right by your trail foot. Watch your hands go along that line.

For another variation, place a parallel line under your trail foot. You can use this line as a reference point for your hands to ensure that your shoulders, arms, and hands are all moving in conjunction with each other.
