The X

Shot Shape

You want to train a draw or fade on purpose, or you're fighting an unwanted shot shape.

The Blueprint

Intermediate
1. Using The Blueprint, draw two lines that cross at your ball — one for club path, one for target line. They form an X. 2. For a draw: feel the club moving away from your body through impact, along the right-side path. 3. For a fade: feel the club trace the line that comes in toward your lead toe at impact. 4. Start at 50% speed — trace the path slowly and build speed as the feel becomes natural.
Add a takeaway line to complete the picture — now you have a path reference for both back and through. Add a perpendicular at impact to also check your club face angle. Fighting a slice? Ignore the fade line entirely and focus only on the draw path. That angled line is your inside delivery — train it until approaching from inside becomes automatic.
